Privacy Policy for Lucid Dream Calendar

This Privacy Policy explains how I, Seth Danford (“we”, “us”, “our”), handle information in the Lucid Dream Calendar mobile application (the “App”).

Summary

• The App stores your entries and voice memos on your device.
• Optional iCloud Backup on iOS can copy entries, preferences, and voice memos to your own iCloud account.
• Optional full ZIP backups save entries, settings, reminders, and voice memos to a location you choose.
• We do not run our own servers for this App and do not sell your data.

Information we handle

Information you enter in the App

The App allows you to create dream entries and related details, such as dates, notes, ratings, technique details, and optional voice memos. This information is stored locally on your device. The App also stores your preferences and reality-check reminder settings locally.

Microphone access

If you choose to record voice memos, the App asks for microphone permission. Audio is recorded and stored locally on your device. We do not receive your recordings. If you enable iCloud Backup on iOS, the App also copies recordings to your own iCloud account. Recordings are included in full ZIP backups when you enable that feature.

Optional iCloud Backup (iOS)

If you enable iCloud Backup, the App stores entries and preferences in your iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. It also copies voice-memo files to the App’s iCloud container and can download them to your device when needed. This data is handled by Apple under its privacy policy. iCloud Backup is not available on Android.

Optional file backups and imports

The current iOS app can create a full ZIP backup containing entries, appearance settings, reality-check reminder settings, and voice-memo files in a folder you choose in Files. Automatic Local Backup updates the file after changes while the App is open. The App processes backup creation and restoration on your device.

The ZIP is readable and is not encrypted by the App. If you choose a cloud-backed location, the selected storage provider may upload or sync the backup under its own settings and privacy policy. Turning off Automatic Local Backup does not delete the existing ZIP. You control that file and any copies you make or share.

Legacy CSV Import processes an older CSV exported by the App on your device. These CSV files do not include voice-memo audio. Older app versions or other platforms may offer different file controls; files are shared with other apps or services only when you choose a destination or sharing action.

In-app purchases

If you buy the optional customization unlock, the transaction is processed by Apple App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. We do not receive your payment information. The store may provide a purchase status to unlock features.

What we do not collect

• No account is required.
• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or browsing activity through the App.
• We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs in the App.

How we use information

We use the information you provide only to:

• Save and display your entries and preferences.
• Record and play back voice memos.
• Schedule reality-check reminders you configure.
• Sync data and voice memos to your own iCloud account if you enable it on iOS.
• Create, update, or restore a file backup, or import entries, at your request.
• Unlock features after an in-app purchase.

Sharing of information

We do not sell or rent your information. We share information only as follows:

• With Apple iCloud, if you enable iCloud Backup on iOS.
• With Apple App Store or Google Play for in-app purchase processing.
• With the storage provider you choose for a backup, or other apps or services you choose when sharing a file.

Data storage and retention

• Local app data remains on your device until you remove it, for example by deleting the App or clearing its storage.
• If iCloud Backup is enabled, Apple retains the iCloud copy until you delete it or manage it in iOS iCloud settings.
• Backup files outside the App remain in the destination you selected until you delete them there. Disabling automatic backup or deleting the App does not itself remove those files or copies held by a storage provider.

Your choices

• You can use the App without enabling microphone access, iCloud Backup, or automatic file backups.
• You control imports, backup destinations, and file sharing.
• You can remove local app data by deleting the App or clearing its storage; manage iCloud data in iOS Settings and backup files in your selected storage location.

Security

We rely on your device’s security features and Apple/Google protections. Full ZIP backups are not encrypted by the App; choose a storage location you trust. No method of storage is 100% secure.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date will be updated when changes are posted.
