Your entries and backups

Where is my data stored?

Your entries and voice memos are stored on your device. On iOS, optional iCloud Backup also copies entries, preferences, and voice memos to your own iCloud account. You can use the app without enabling iCloud Backup.

How do I make a full backup, including voice memos?

Open Settings > Backups > Local File Backup and turn on Automatic Local Backup. Choose a folder in Files when prompted. The app keeps one current Lucid Dream Calendar Backup.zip containing your entries, appearance settings, reality-check reminder settings, and voice memos.

The ZIP updates after changes while the app is open. You can also use Back Up Now and check the last-completed time. Wait for the backup to finish before closing the app.

The ZIP is readable and is not encrypted by the app. Keep it in a folder you trust. If you choose a cloud-backed folder, that storage provider may upload the file under its own settings and privacy policy. Turning automatic backup off leaves the last ZIP in place.

How do I restore a full backup?

Open Settings > Backups > Restore Full Backup and select a ZIP created by Lucid Dream Calendar. Review the summary before confirming: restoring replaces the entries, appearance settings, reminders, and recordings currently on this device. Purchases and your iCloud selection stay unchanged.

The confirmation also explains whether Automatic Local Backup will be turned on for the selected ZIP. Check the completion message, then open Reality Checks to review restored reminders and notification permission.

Can I import an older CSV backup?

Yes. Open Settings > Backups > Legacy CSV Import > Import CSV and choose a CSV previously exported by Lucid Dream Calendar. Review the import confirmation before replacing entries with matching dates. Legacy CSV files contain no voice-memo audio. Use the full ZIP backup for current backups and restores.

How do I enable iCloud Backup?

On iOS, sign in to your Apple Account and enable iCloud Drive in the device’s Settings app. Then open Settings > Backups in Lucid Dream Calendar and turn on iCloud Backup. Voice memos may take longer to upload or download than entry text; keep the app open and allow the sync to finish. This option is separate from the full ZIP saved to your chosen Files folder.

App settings

How do I restore a purchase?

Open Settings > Customizable Look and tap Already purchased? Restore. Use the same store account used for the original purchase.

How do I change the app language?

Open Settings > Language. The iOS app supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, German (Germany), Japanese, and Korean. On first launch, the app uses your phone’s primary language when supported; otherwise, it asks you to choose before continuing.

How does the Home Screen icon change appearance?

On supported iOS versions, the app has light and dark Home Screen icons. Set the Home Screen’s icon appearance to Auto to follow the phone’s light/dark appearance. A fixed icon appearance chosen in iOS overrides automatic switching. The Home Screen icon setting is separate from the app’s own appearance settings.
